Rainbow's End Child Development Center participates in the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP), a Federal program through the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), that provides monetary reimbursement to facilities offering healthier meals and snacks to children. The Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) administers CACFP in Illinois. Rainbow's End Child Development Center also follows all DCFS regulations regarding meals.
Rainbow's End Child Development Center is open for operation from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. We provide two full meals and a daily snack following DCFS guidelines during our hours of operation. Breakfast is served 8:30 to 9:00 a.m. Lunch is served 11:30 a.m. to Noon and the Afternoon Snack is served 2:30 to 3:00 p.m. Nutritional snacks may be offered as a supplement throughout the day for younger children.
CACFP Regulations allow food substitutions for children under certain circumstances as follows:
- Child with Life Threatening Allergy or Disability - Rainbow's End must provide substitution when prescribed by physician. Physician Statement must include foods to avoid and what to provide as substitution.
- Children with Medical Condition and No Disability - Rainbow's End is not responsible to provide substitutions. Confirm with Rainbow's End if accommodation is available. A Physician Statement with foods to avoid and what to provide as substitution will be required if accommodation by Rainbow's End can be made. Parent/Guardian may be asked to provide substitutions with no change to tuition.
- Children with No Medical Condition and No Disability - Special Dietary Request for Personal Reason (Vegetarian, Religious, or Cultural Preferences) Rainbow's End is not responsible to provide substitutions. Confirm with Rainbow's End if accommodation is available. A Physician Statement with foods to avoid and what to provide as substitution will be required if accommodation by Rainbow's End can be made. Parent/Guardian may be asked to provide substitutions with no change to tuition.
